Sweet and sour red onions made with Calabrian Tropea Red Onion

These onions tipically have an ovale shape with a wine-red shell, and they take their name from their zone of origin. They have a red color, whose sweet and crunchy taste is exalted through the addition of red wine vinegar and sugar. They can be left natural and used with fish-based appetizers and second dishes, or served with stewed meat as noble ingredient in Mediterranean cuisine.
